3rd Annual Jazz and Friends Concert

Litchfield Jazz Festival is presenting Jazz & Friends, its third in a series of annual afternoons of music and fundraising fun for the benefit of Litchfield Jazz Camp Scholarships.  Over the last 16 years Litchfield Jazz Camp has granted over 20% of its students need-based scholarships annually.

A portion of these funds in recent years have been made available by a State of Connecticut Department of Education program. However, as we all know, all granted funds are vulnerable, and ours is no exception.  Our’s was cut by 46% last year. So we continue to endeavor to raise support for our most in-need students at events like Jazz & Friends. Last year, with your help we raised an essential $20,000 for scholarships.

A special thanks to Bob and Carol Lenz for hosting this event at their breathtaking home, pianist and Jazz Camp teaching artist Helen Sung for donating her services, our outstanding Litchfield Jazz Camp students for showing you their stuff and WNPR’s News Director John Dankosky for volunteering his time as our auctioneer!. Helen will give you a peek at what to expect when she opens Litchfield Jazz Festival 2012 on Saturday August 11 with her trio.

Please join us, have a wonderful time and help make this event our biggest scholarship success yet.
