Position: Camp Nurse

Not-for-Profit Organization Summer Music Camp
Litchfield Performing Arts presents The Litchfield Jazz Camp

Position is paid for 4 weeks. On-site private room & board Provided.
Beginning: July 8th 2017, Ending: August 7th, 2017
Location: New Milford, CT

The residential nurse of the Litchfield Jazz Camp provides daily medical assistance to all students and staff. This includes administering all student medication, reviewing all student medical documents and conferring with students and parents upon check-in, as well as administering all basic first aid to camp attendees, and evaluating and documenting any medical related occurrence. Local emergency personnel will handle all serious medical emergencies – New Milford Hospital is minutes away. Live on campus with private room and board. Daily meals are provided. A nurse’s office is also provided near the main camp office. Litchfield Jazz Camp provides all required medical supplies at the discretion of the nurse. This is a good position for a mother or father of a 12 -18 year old interested in attending one of the best jazz camps in the United States. Payment and tuition barter is possible.

Requirements:

  • The residential nurse must have up to date certification in one of the following:
    • Advanced Practice Registered Nurse with a current CT license “APRN”
    • Registered Nurse with a current CT license “RN”
    • Licensed Practical Nurse with a current CT license “LPN”
    • Emergency Medical Services – Instructor with a current CT certification “EMS-I”
    • Emergency Medical Technician – Paramedic with a current CT paramedic certification “EMT-P”
    • Emergency Medical Technician “EMT” with a current CT certification
    • Medical Response Technician “MRT” with a current CT certification
  • The residential nurse must possess one of the following prescribed levels of C.P.R. certification:
    • American Red Cross C.P.R./AED for the Professional Rescuers and Healthcare Providers (2 year certification)
    • American Red Cross C.P.R./AED for Lifeguards (1 year certification)
    • American Red Cross First Aid/CPR/AED
    • American Heart Association BLS (Basic Life Support) for Healthcare Providers (2 year certification)
    • American Heart Association Heartsaver First Aid/CPR/AED
  • No criminal history

All applicants must provide a cover letter, resume, copies of all certifications, and three references. 

Schedule & Compensation:
Applicants must be able to work Sunday-Friday, and some Saturdays. Office hours tend to be 9:00AM – 6PM, but some days may require additional work. The position will begin July 8th and will conclude by August 7th. Private housing and all meals are provided. Full admittance to the Litchfield Jazz Festival which occurs at the end of the camp is also included.

Location:
Our camp and camp office is located on the campus of the Canterbury School in New Milford Connecticut. There will be opportunities at camp for leisure as well as the astounding performances every night by our camp faculty.

Position: Director of Residential Life for Litchfield Jazz Camp

Position is paid for 5 weeks. On-site Room & Board Provided.
Beginning: July 2017
Location: New Milford, CT

The Litchfield Jazz Camp residential director and his/her staff are responsible for the safety and well being of all students at camp. Duties will include assigning living spaces for all residents, greeting and conferring with all parents upon arrival, resolving daily residential life issues including student behavior and disciplinary actions, over-seeing daily student check ins, speaking with parents during the week, and assisting with daily office administration. Current or former school teachers or educators are preferred.

Requirements:

  • Age: Minimum of 27 years
  • Valid US Driver’s License (A car is recommended, but not required) 
  • Experience with student life, residential affairs, and dormitory living
  • One of the following certifications (If selected for the position, Camp will reimburse for the cost of the course)
    • American Red Cross C.P.R./AED for the Professional Rescuers and Healthcare Providers (2 year certification)
    • American Red Cross C.P.R./AED for Lifeguards (1 year certification)
    • American Red Cross First Aid/CPR/AED
    • American Heart Association BLS (Basic Life Support) for Healthcare Providers (2 year certification)
    • American Heart Association Heartsaver First Aid/CPR/AED
  • No criminal history
  • General music background preferred but not required.
