Litchfield Jazz Presents – Duchess, April 29

The DUCHESS April 29 show will welcome a limited live Studio Audience with a ticket-holder reception to meet the artists and enjoy refreshments. Proceeds from both ticket sales and live-stream listener donations will help fund need-based scholarships for the 26th Annual Litchfield Jazz Camp.In the fall of 2020, Litchfield Jazz Festival began offering free live streams of top-shelf jazz groups from Telefunken Sound Stage in South Windsor CT. The concerts, under the title Litchfield Jazz Presents, were meant to provide listening pleasure for the public and gigs for artists at a time both were in short supply. The series was so well received the nonprofit Litchfield Performing Arts which runs all things Litchfield Jazz decided to just keep it going.

Now winding up its second season, Litchfield Jazz Presents will conclude on April 29th at 7:30pm with the award-winning singing group, Duchess. Duchess, who last performed for Litchfield in 2019 at its last in-person festival, was honored this year with the Jazz Journalists 2021 Vocal Group of the Year award and the 2021 Jazz Times Critic’s Poll #1 Vocal Group pick, besting the legendary groups Manhattan Transfer and Take Six.

Duchess was founded in 2013 by New York singers Amy Cervini, Hilary Gardner and Melissa Stylianou. They will be backed at Telefunken by Michael Cabe, piano, Matt Aronoff, bass, and Jared Schonig, drums. Now Anzic Recording artists, Duchess’ music was inspired by the 1930s sound of the renowned Boswell Sisters and they bring that vibe right up to date.

Sponsors for Litchfield Jazz Presents include Telefunken, a manufacturer world-class recording and stage microphones, and donations from individuals.
