    Litchfield Jazz Festival presents "Jazz & Friends," its fourth in a series of annual afternoons of music and fundraising fun for the benefit of Litchfield Jazz Camp Scholarships.  Over the last 17 years Litchfield Jazz Camp has granted over 20% of its students need-based scholarships annually. Granted funds are vulnerable, and ours are no exception with significant cuts in available funding in recent years.     Litchfield Jazz Festival is presenting Jazz & Friends, its third in a series of annual afternoons of music and fundraising fun for the benefit of Litchfield Jazz Camp Scholarships.  Over the last 16 years Litchfield Jazz Camp has granted over 20% of its students need-based scholarships annually. A portion of these funds in recent years have been made available by a State of Connecticut Department of Education program.     Project Poetry Live! (PPL!), is about to celebrate its 18th year. The Litchfield Performing Arts founded program, was established in the ‘90s by Executive & Artistic Director, Vita West Muir, with the vision of giving children the opportunity to interact with peers of different cultural backgrounds in a professional arts environment. Each year PPL! brings professional artists, poets, dancers and musicians together with some 1,200 middle and high school students from five Connecticut school districts (Litchfield, Plymouth, Thomaston, Waterbury and Watertown) at no cost to the students.     Project Poetry Live! 
has now affected a generation of students. Founded in 1995, PPL brings professional poets, artists, musicians, and dancers into five Connecticut school districts to work with 1,100 middle and high school students every year.  See the culmination of this year-round project on Friday, June 4th where students will dance, play in the jazz band, display their murals, have their poetry read and their art displayed.  Then enjoy a professional performance by the Matthew Westerby Company, who has been teaching our students for weeks prior to this performance.     The Litchfield Jazz Festival and Kent Lions Club present the second annual “Afternoon of Music.”  This year’s concert, “An Afternoon of Classics & Jazz,” celebrates the music of Duke Ellington, Cole Porter and others.  Held at Kent School’s Mattison Auditorium on Saturday, February 6th from 4-6 PM, it features Kent’s own celebrated pianist Dolph Traymon, and professionals and outstanding young talents from Litchfield Jazz Camp.  Organized as the Kent Lions Club’s winter fundraiser, the proceeds from the concert will benefit the Kent Lions charitable giving and support scholarships to one or more Kent students to attend Litchfield Jazz Camp this…
